Francis Jackson “Jack” Endicott, 99, Warsaw, passed away at 10:20 a.m. April 3, 2016, at Grace Village Health Care, Winona Lake. He was born Dec. 9, 1916, in Richland Center, Wis., to Vernie May Patten and George Mullar Endicott. On May 29, 1940, he married Dorothy Jeanne Kline, and they were together for over 50 years before she passed away in 1991. He remarried in 1996 to Anne Kathryn Kline Smith, his first wife’s sister, who passed away in 2004. He was a resident of Kosciusko County since 1944 where he was a carpenter and owner of Endicott Construction ... “Live in a house that Jack built!” He continued his life’s work until his 90s. He served in the United States Navy during World War II with the 58th Construction Battalion attached to the 4th Marines. He was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Carpenter’s Mate Second Class. He was active his entire 99 years of life. He was a member of Winona Lake Free Methodist Church, the Lions Club and was even a volunteer fireman in Winona Lake. He was a member of Gideon’s International, and during a mission trip he helped to construct a radio station in Haiti. He loved to hunt, bowl, enjoyed archery, but most of all he enjoyed his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Candace “Candy” (and spouse David) Wolkins, Warsaw; two sons, Jeffry W. (and spouse Jane) Endicott, Honeoye Falls, N.Y.; Kim V. (and spouse Deborah) Endicott, Dewart Lake; and four grandchildren: Matthew (and spouse Kristy) Wolkins, Winona Lake; Eric (and spouse Allison) Endicott, Hilton, N.Y.; Elise (and spouse Chris) Hunt, Lima, N.Y.; Annie (and spouse Eric) Horvath, Peters Creek, Alaska; and eight grandchildren: Jackson, Abigail, Zane, Easton, Olivia, Wyatt, Jacob and Noah; his second wife’s children: Karyl Taylor and John Deacon Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, and their three sons: Douglas (and spouse Eileen) Smith, Stouffville, Ontario, Canada; Greg (and spouse Ann) Smith Arthur, Ontario, Canada; Steve (and spouse Tonnie) Smith, Magnetawan, Ontario, Canada; their grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, all of whom were loved by Jack. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; a daughter, Kathryn Jill Endicott; a grandson, Kevin Endicott; a brother; and a sister. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Winona Lake Free Methodist Church, with Pastors Paul Parker and Steven Smith officiating. Military rites will be conducted by active members of the U.S. Navy, American Legion Post 49 and VFW 1126, both of Warsaw.
