MARSHALL COUNTY - A Fort Wayne teen was arrested by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department (MCSD) after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a Warsaw-area dealership and leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase.
At approximately 3:15 a.m. Monday, according to a MCSD news release, a MCSD deputy saw a black 2018 Jeep traveling west on U.S. 30 from Ind. 331 at 110 mph in a posted 60 mph zone.
The deputy and a Bourbon Police Department officer caught up to the speeding vehicle and activated emergency lights, but the Jeep failed to stop. Officers pursued the vehicle to the area of U.S. 30 and Pioneer Drive where the driver - identified as Damion L. Jeffrey, 19, Fort Wayne - was taken into custody.
During the investigation, it was learned that the Jeep had been stolen from a Warsaw-area dealership.
Jeffrey was taken to the Marshall County Jail where he was booked for resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, a level 6 felony. His preliminary bond was set at $1,505.
Agencies involved in the case included the MCSD, the Bourbon and Plymouth police departments and Lyon’s Wrecker Service.
