First Friday Events In Warsaw Eliminated In February, March

First Friday Events In Warsaw Eliminated In February, MarchFirst Friday events during two winter months are being eliminated this year.

The decision was announced by the two sponsors, Warsaw Community Development Corp. and the city of Warsaw.

Essentially, organizers will not host events in February or March, but will pick up again in April and continue through the rest of the year. Traditionally, organizers have not held an event in January.

Reasons for the change are due to the unpredictable temperatures in February and March, according to Lauren Klusman, spokesperson for Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce and WCDC.

In past years, the February “Fire and Ice” theme has struggled with fluctuating temperatures that have been either too warm for the ice sculptures and sometimes too cold to draw big crowds.

This year, First Friday events will be held April through December.

Despite the sometimes cold conditions in December, the holiday-themed event has proven to be among the more popular, Klusman said.

Below is a list of themes for this year’s events:

• April – Spring Fling

• May – Musical May

• June – Veterans Appreciation

• July – Family Picnic

• August – Car Show

• September – Fall Fashion

• October – Artober

• November – Thanks for Giving

• December – Hometown Holly Days
