Firefighters had a house fire at 3 EMS B 61 G Lane, Warsaw, on Friday night under control within 25 minutes of their arrival.
Tippecanoe Township Fire Territory Battalion Chief Jeffrey Lewis said they were called out to the fire at 9:24 p.m. Friday. A neighbor had called it in as no one at the residence was home.
The fire did get into the ceiling of the house, but when firefighters first arrived on the scene, there were no flames visible. Smoke was coming out the windows. The door had to be forced open because it was locked, and that’s when flames blew out the door, Lewis recalled.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation, he said.
County records indicate the property is owned by John C. Labriola.
Lewis said the fire was a pretty easy one to knock down, as they had it under control within 25 minutes, but firefighters were still out at the scene until between 11 p.m. and midnight.
No injuries were reported, and the home is not believed to be a total loss.
Along with the Tippecanoe Township Fire Territory, Lewis said he called in Pierceton Fire Department and Turkey Creek Fire Territory. The North Webster Police Department and Lutheran EMS also were on the scene.
