Fire Destroys Home On North CR 100EFirefighters were on scene of a two-story house fire late Thursday night into early Friday morning.

Plain Township Fire Department Chief Jared Haughee said they were called out to a house fire at 4199 N. CR 100E, Warsaw, at 10:27 p.m. Thursday. When the fire department arrived, fire was coming out of the roof. The fire was contained to just the upstairs and the attic area, he said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Haughee said he was pretty sure the home will be determined to be a total loss except the garage because a lot of water was used to put out the fire. The fire destroyed the second floor. He provided an estimate of the damage to be around $150,000. The contents of the garage appeared to be OK.

County records indicate the home is owned by Linda J. Harrold. Haughee said there were two people in the home at the time of the fire, but they got out safe and no injuries were reported.

Haughee said they were on scene for about four hours, with about 45 men total. Full assist was provided by the Warsaw and Milford fire departments, while Winona Lake provided a tanker assist. The American Red Cross took care of the occupants and got them a hotel room. Also responding were Lutheran EMS and the Kosciusko County Highway Department and Sheriff’s Office.
