WINONA LAKE – Get ready for a spooktacular afternoon of Halloween fun!
Winona Lake Limitless Park invites families and children of all ages to the fifth annual Trick-or-Treat on the Trail on Saturday, Oct. 24. This free, family-friendly event offers an afternoon filled with treats, entertainment and festive fall fun for the entire community, according to a provided news release.
Trick-or-Treat on the Trail is 3 to 5 p.m.
Calling all boos and ghouls! Dress in your favorite costumes and make your way along the Winona Lake Greenway, collecting treats and goodies from local businesses, organizations and community groups stationed throughout the trail.
Participants may enter or exit the trick-or-treat route at two designated locations: Chestnut Street or Kings Highway. Please note that the Boys City Drive trailhead will not serve as an entrance or exit for this event. Attendees arriving at that location will be directed to one of the designated entrances.
With multiple route options available, families can choose the path that works best for them:
• Looking for a flatter, more family-friendly route? Enter the Greenway near the Street Department at the bottom of Chestnut Street hill. This route follows the Greenway toward the Boys City Drive trailhead loop and is a great option for families with little ones, strollers or those who prefer fewer hills.
• Don't mind a few hills? Follow the Greenway toward the bridge and take the extension leading up to Kings Highway or begin at Kings Highway and travel in the opposite direction. The route will not cross Kings Highway.
• Want to experience it all? Go for it! Families are welcome to explore the entire trick-or-treat route and visit all participating vendors.
To help keep everyone moving safely and reduce cross traffic, participants are asked to visit vendors on their right side as they travel along the greenway. Directional signage will be posted throughout the route to help guide participants. Don't forget to bring your favorite trick-or-treat bag to collect all your goodies!
S’more Halloween Fun at Limitless Park is 5 to 7 p.m.
The fun doesn't stop when trick-or-treating ends! Head back to Winona Lake Limitless Park for even more Halloween festivities. Gather around the bonfire, enjoy delicious s'mores, take a festive hayride and stick around for a special surprise performance by Deb Collier's School of Dance.
As the sun sets, settle in for a special outdoor showing of the Halloween classic, “It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” beginning at dark. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy a festive evening with family and friends!
