Fate Of The Nation

For the first time in my adult life, I'm fearful regarding the fate of my country. I know that sounds like a bad parody of Michelle Obama's now infamous "... proud of my country ..." quote, but I'm not the only voter who feels this way. There's an intense, underlying current of anger and resentment pulsing through all strata of our society right now. This mistrust of government on all levels wasn't even this bad during the Vietnam War era.

To start listing specific reasons for this mistrust/fear would take up too much time. What's troubling is the "big picture" that the political environment could become. Senator Obama has a reputation as the most liberal senator in Washington. His constant mantra of "change we can believe in" is nothing more than Liberal code for forcing multiculturalism upon the rest of the nation. That's the "big picture" and agenda of modern liberalism.

The mentality of this current multiculturalilsm is not the same as the "melting pot" concept of the mid-to-late 1800s. That era of American history was one of assimilation-new comers became Americans and we grew as a nation. New immigrants didn't loose their cultural background, while at the same time learning English and becoming legal, contributing members of our nation.

We are now experiencing an era of accommodation. Not only are new immigrants not encouraged to do everything within the law, it's now considered a violation of their human rights not to put their culture first.

It appears that Obama and all other proponents of multiculturalism are aiming the country towards a mind set of appeasement, which is especially dangerous considering the inroads Islam has made in America. And we now have one Moslem in congress-Keith Ellison, Democrat from the 5th Congressional District of Minnesota. He used a Koran during his swearing-in ceremony.

Can the will of one man, one with a charismatic speaking ability, cause the kind of change that could eventually destroy America as we know it? Consider this: In 1923, a small time politician with a charismatic speaking ability, attempted to overthrow the Weimar Republic of Germany. That politician was Adolph Hitler, and the incident in question is known as the Beer Hall Putsch.

Hitler's attempted coup failed, he was arrested, and sentenced to five years in prison. He served less than nine months, from April 1, 1924, until Dec. 20, 1924. During this time, he wrote a book, "Mein Kamph", in which he basically laid out what he would do if he came to power. Hardly anyone bothered to read it.

By 1933, Hitler became Chancellor of Germany as part of a political coalition deal. The Nazi Party never won a majority during parliamentary elections up to that time. But they did incrementally continue to be a force in the German government.

Shortly after coming to power, Hitler consolidated the office of president with his office of chancellor, thus becoming a dictator. Within six months, the Nazis enacted what was called the Nuremberg Laws. These "laws" disenfranchised the Jews from public office, certain professions, property ownership, and basically laid the groundwork for the Holocaust.

One man, a very charismatic speaker and author, did make a difference. One man did bring about a change that people could believe in because they had no other choice.

History could begin to repeat itself this coming November. This time, the stakes are even higher. One man, a multicultural socialist, could make the United States more vulnerable to Islam and terrorism than ever before.

One famous quote, attributed to 18th century English political theorist and philosopher Edmund Burke, puts it all into perspective. "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."
