WINONA LAKE – Family Fest saw a steady crowd at the Miller Sunset Pavilion Saturday and helped kick off the end of summer.
Town Manager Adam Lohn said the theme for Family Fest was a backyard cookout, so there were burgers and hot dogs to eat. There also were an inflatable bounce house and other outdoor-type activities.
Deputy Clerk-Treasurer Diane Wulliman said, as of about halfway through the event, the turnout had been steady and she thought the turnout was what it normally was for the annual event.
Family Fest started off as the community dinner until 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 stopped the community dinner, and in 2021 the town decided to having a sit-down dinner with Family Fest, said Wulliman.
Lohn said the purpose of Family Fest was to get the community out and get everybody together.
