WINONA LAKE – The Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams invites families to Winter Critter Encounter to learn how animals move through winter.
Each student will make a Track Journal to take home.
Winter Critter Encounter is Jan. 24 from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
This popular event fills up quickly so consider reserving your spot today, according to a news release from The Lilly Center.
January is when the Indiana woods get quieter — but never empty. Every night and early morning, raccoons, deer, foxes, rabbits, beavers and countless little woodland neighbors leave behind a hidden record of their lives. This hands-on winter program invites families to step into that story.
Explore how animals move through winter, what clues they leave behind, and identify tracks, patterns and winter wildlife signs right in the backyard. Families can move at their own pace through hands-on STEM stations.
Attendees will also:
● Meet some of the Lilly Center’s native critter ambassadors.
● Peek behind the scenes in the aquarium lab.
● Enjoy a cozy winter snack break.
Although animal lovers of all ages will enjoy Critter Encounter, the activities are geared toward elementary-age students.
