NORTH WEBSTER – Everett G. Sowers, 90, of Indianapolis, and formerly of Leesburg, died at 10:05 p.m. May 10, 2013, in Brookdale Place of Fall Creek, Indianapolis. He was born Oct. 24, 1922, in Lapaz, to Victor and Dolly Holland Sowers. On March 1, 1944, in Warsaw, he married Roberta B. Perkins, who died Oct. 24, 2012. He graduated from Lapaz High School in 1940. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He moved to Warsaw from Valparaiso in 1952, then to the Leesburg area in 1968 before moving to Indianapolis in 2012. He retired from Conrail Railroad in 1984 as a station agent after 45 years of service. He was a member of United Methodist Church and Lakeland Kiwanis, both in North Webster, and American Legion Post 49, Warsaw. He was a former member of Warsaw Lions Club. Surviving are two sons, Steve (and spouse Rita) Sowers, Indianapolis, and Randy (and spouse Joyce), Mishawaka; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Myrna (and spouse Willy) Hernandez, Van Wert, Ohio; and two brothers, Blaine (and spouse Esther) Sowers, Leo, and Lowell (and spouse Elizabeth) Sowers, South Bend. He also was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church, North Webster, with Pastor David Smitley officiating. Military graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Calling is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
