LIGONIER – Eugene V. Moser, 95, of Syracuse, passed away at 2:15 a.m. July 16, 2012, in Avalon Village, Ligonier.
He was born Oct. 18, 1916, in Linn Grove, to Albert and Clara Meschberger Moser. On Oct. 30, 1937, in New Paris, he married Elizabeth “Betty” Blue, who died Jan. 19, 2005.
He loved his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his church. He shared many wonderful stories about his childhood and saw many economic and political changes throughout his life. Farming played a major role in his life and he worked hard to keep farmland from being developed beyond agriculture. He owned and operated Over the Road Trucking for many years. He was a member of Richville United Methodist Church for more than 74 years and served as a board member of the former American State Bank.
Surviving are a son, Maurice (and spouse Judy) Moser, Ligonier; a daughter, Cynthia (and spouse Layton) Pergrem, Syracuse; five grandchildren: Kimberly (and spouse Mitch) Moser, Fort Wayne; Martin (and spouse Faith) Moser, Ligonier; Matthew (and spouse Kim) Moser, Kalkaska, Mich.; Heather (and spouse Chris) Fuleki, Wawaka; and Rob (and spouse Nicole) Geiger-Pergrem, Syracuse; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers: Albert Jr., Carl, Warren, George, Grant, Robert and Lewis Moser; and a sister, Mary Mose Johnson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway S., Ligonier, with Pastor Matthew Moser and Rob Geiger-Pergrem officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier.
