An Etna Green man was arrested on a child molesting charge dating back to 2007 after allegedly using different names to avoid being arrested.
Santiago Romero Contreras, 39, of 9302 W. CR 100S, Etna Green, is charged with child molesting, a class D felony. He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 1:08 p.m. Oct. 28 on a $200,000 preliminary bond.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on Sept. 20, 2007, a Warsaw Police Department officer spoke with a man who said his child had been molested.
The officer spoke with the child who said they and a friend went to a party on Sept. 1, 2007. The child told the officer everyone was drinking and later in the evening, they went to lie down. They were asleep for about an hour when they woke up and noticed Contreras was on top of them.
The child told police Contreras undressed them and inappropriately touched them.
An officer spoke with Contreras, who admitted to inappropriately touching the child.
The child later found blood in their underwear.
Court paperwork filed in October 2026 states officers believe Contreras used several different names to try to avoid being arrested for his outstanding warrant.
