Ernest Lindley Hauth, 95, Warsaw, passed away Sept. 22, 2013, at Lutheran Life Villages-Pine Valley, Fort Wayne. He was born March 25, 1918, in Marion to Roy and Thelma Dunn Hauth. On March 24, 1940, in Warsaw, he married Merl Rife, his wife of 73 years, who survives. He was a life-long resident of Kosciusko County. In addition to being a farmer, he was a manager at Warsaw License Branch and a volunteer fireman for the Warsaw Fire Department. He was employed by Zimmer, Pre-form Milk Cartons, Playtime Corporation and Warsaw Plating Works. While on the Wayne Township Advisory Board, he was involved in the consolidation of the county schools to the Warsaw Community Schools, as well as its expansion. Also surviving are his daughter, Barbara Funnell, Fort Wayne; a son, E. Max (and spouse Cindy) Hauth, Lakeland, Fla.; brothers, Roy Hauth and Austin Hauth, Warsaw; a sister, Ruth Ann Neff, Indianapolis; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Taylor, and brothers, Ralph, George and William “Bill” Hauth. A memorial service will be at a later date.
