Emily Bernadine Kennedy, 92, beloved mother and grandmother, died late morning May 16, 2008, in Trinity Station, Flatwoods, Ky., where she was a resident and in failing health for the past eight years.

She was born Sept. 21, 1915, in Dora, Wabash County, to Halley and Belva Stoops Cain. On April 21, 1935, she married DeVon M. Lee, who preceded her in death. On August 28, 1953, she married James Roser, who was killed in a traffic accident in 1958. On Dec. 23, 1960, she married Byron C. Kennedy, who preceded her in death.

She, Byron and Jane Ann Roser Kennedy came to Warsaw in 1961. She was well-known in the Warsaw community for her unselfish civic work and church membership. She was active in the organization of Presby Pre-School, was a long-time volunteer with Heartline Pregnancy Center, volunteered with Kosciusko Home Care & Hospice and was a member of Tri-Kappa Sorority. On June 2, 1983, she was honored by Grace College when she was granted a Certificate of Award for Achievement in Behavioral Science. A long-time resident of Wabash County, she worked at Sears Roebuck and Co. for many years.

Surviving are her children, Rosemary (and spouse Rudolph) Finderson, LaGrange County; DeVon C. "Dan" (and spouse Amanda) Lee, Warsaw; and Jane Ann (and spouse Ghassan) Hilal, Russell, Ky.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be at Fairview Cemetery, Servia, where she will be interred next to her husband, Byron.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw.
