Elva 'Ike' Potts

SYRACUSE - Elva "Ike" Potts, 86, of Cromwell, died at 6:45 p.m. Oct. 1, 2008, in her residence.

She was born March 31, 1922, in Newton County, to John M. and Laura Merchant Odle. On Dec. 1, 1945, she married Russell Potts, who preceded her in death.

Formerly of Newton County and Rensselaer, she moved to the North Webster area in 1964. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was a member of Shepherd of the Lakes Church, a lifetime member of North Webster American Legion Auxiliary and was an avid North Webster Kiwanian. She loved spending time on the lakes fishing and enjoyed a game of euchre with friends.

Surviving are a daughter, Coramarie "Korky" (and companion Joe Stanley), Cromwell; a grandson, Lane (and spouse Michele) Morgan, Morristown, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, Nicole and Niressa, both of Morristown; several nieces and nephews; and a son-in-law, Dwayne Morgan, his companion, Barbara, and their son Chase. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be private.

Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse, is in charge of arrangements.
