AKRON – Elma L. Swihart, 88, Auburn, and formerly of Silver Lake, died at 6:01 p.m. Dec. 14, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born June 8, 1927, in Fulton County, to Cary H. and Lucile King Funk. She was formerly married to Leroy F. Swihart, who preceded her in death Dec. 7, 2007.
She was a homemaker and helped look after the elderly. She was a long-time attendee of the Silver Creek Church of God.
Surviving are two daughters, Patty Bumgardner, North Manchester, and Linda (and spouse Tony) Ramsey, Warsaw; four sons: David L. (and spouse Cassie) Swihart, Silver Lake; Randy J. (and spouse Dr. Colleen Quinn) Swihart, Columbia City; Michael R. Swihart (and significant other Ronda Clevenger), Silver Lake; Eric H. (and spouse Vickie) Swihart, Auburn;  five sisters: Isabelle Kamp, Akron; Martha (and spouse William) Schultz and Rose (and spouse Randy) Habegger, all of Marble Falls, Texas; Sue (and spouse Rafael) Quintanilla, Wabash; Judith Ann (and spouse Greg) Armstrong, Converse; two brothers, Robert (and spouse Jane) Funk, VanBuren, and Hugh (and spouse Rita) Funk, Rochester; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey and Arthur Funk, and an infant brother and sister.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hartzler Funeral Home 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Pastor Thomas Craig officiating. Burial is in Athens Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
