MENTONE — Ellen Lee Flenar, 87, rural Mentone, died at 12:37 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
She was born Nov. 22, 1929, in Plymouth, to Forrest and Goldie Teel Kesler. On July 26, 1947, in Mentone, she married Robert D. Flenar, who passed March 9, 2011.
Ellen was a wonderful homemaker and loved her family and taking care of her cat, Otis. She also worked at various jobs outside the home.
She was a 1947 graduate of Mentone High School. She formerly attended Mentone Church of Christ.
Survivors include daughters, Diane (husband Lanny) Idle, South Whitley, and Lynn (husband Roger) Bucher, Fort Wayne; son, Dan (wife Sherry) Flenar, Columbia City; daughter-in-law, Valerie Flenar, Rochester; 14 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her husband; son, Brett Flenar; and sisters, Eloise Everman and Freeda Witham.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 20, in King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Pastor Matthew Flenar officiating. Burial will be in Mentone Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 19, at the funeral home.
