A man from Elkhart was arrested on multiple charges after a police pursuit Saturday night.
According to a Warsaw Police news release, on Saturday night a WPD officer attempted to perform a traffic stop on a car in the area of Ind. 15 and Herscher Drive, Warsaw. The vehicle, a black Pontiac G6, briefly stopped before accelerating forward. A police pursuit was then initiated southbound on Ind. 15 to Rozella Road (CR 100S) where the vehicle fled westbound.
Police from multiple jurisdictions pursued the vehicle through Kosciusko, Marshall and Fulton counties, the release said.
During the pursuit, officers deployed spike strips in an effort to end the pursuit safely. The chase continued until the car drove into a field near the intersection of North CR 550E and Ind. 14.
The driver, Jacob Yeazel, 37, Elkhart, was taken into custody without further incident.
Officers located narcotics and paraphernalia on Yeazel and inside the vehicle. Yeazel also had three warrants out of Elkhart County.
Yeazel was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on charges of fleeing law enforcement in a motor vehicle, a level 6 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a level 5 felony; criminal recklessness while using a vehicle, a level 6 felony; and misdemeanor charges for dealing marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia. Yeazel also was cited for multiple traffic infractions.
