SYRACUSE - Edward E. Newcomer Sr., 91, of New Paris, died at 9:25 p.m. April 7, 2008, in Goshen General Hospital.
He was born May 1, 1916, in Syracuse, to Eli H. and Laura Belle Stouder Newcomer. On Dec. 9, 1933, he married Geneva Lindzy, who died in 1993. On Sept. 24, 1994, he married LaDonna Blanton, who died June 2, 2003.
A lifetime area resident, he was owner of Newcomer Plumbing & Heating, Syracuse. He was a charter member of Syracuse Church of the Nazarene and attended New Paris Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are three sons: Floyd (and spouse Pam) Newcomer, Fort Wayne; Terry (and spouse Leah) Newcomer, Columbia City; and Donald Newcomer, Syracuse; three daughters: Laura Coquillard, Syracuse; Patsy (and spouse Chuck) Summerlot, New Paris; and Connie Graber, Portland; a stepdaughter, Rose Howell, Silver Lake; a brother, Raymond Newcomer, Syracuse; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, four brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Harris Chapel, Syracuse, with Pastor Donald Meiner officiating. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
