Echoes Of The Past Put History On Display At Mentone AirportMENTONE – Whether you are a farm enthusiast or not, there was something for everyone at this past weekend’s tractor and garden tractor show in Mentone, according to a news release from The Echoes of the Past.

The tractor club played host to over 150 exhibits of tractors, garden tractors and farm equipment. John Deere, International, Case, Wheel Horse, Ford, Oliver and more were represented by the 60 different exhibitors.

Visitors to the show were treated to rarities like a 1917 Waterloo Boy R or a Sheppard diesel Highway Mower Special.  They could also find a special collection of John Deere Patio Model Color Collection Lawn and Garden tractors. These tractors were produced in 1969 and were painted in four special colors.

Steve Schmitz from Lyons, Ohio, owns the complete set and displayed them for everyone to enjoy. Schmitz is also the owner of one of only four left in the country of the John Deere JD140 Navy garden tractors that were used on aircraft carriers to move planes aboard the carriers while at sea. They believe the other 46 made ended up in the ocean.

Schmitz was the winner of garden tractor best in show for his JD140. The best in show in winner for vintage tractors was Maci Doud with her entry of a Farmall Cub.

Kids visiting the show were treated to a tractor driving experience and barrel train ride as well as homemade ice cream.

Be sure to visit the Echoes of the Past at First Friday July 2 in downtown Warsaw and at the Kosciusko County Fair July 12-17.
