It was a cold morning Saturday, Dec. 6 but the desire to get toys to children in the county was the only thing on the minds of the Echoes of the Past club members.
The annual Cram the Tram event to help the United States Marine Corps Reserve with the Toys for Tots program was a big success, thanks to those in the community who helped fill the boxes at the club’s designated drop locations, according to a news release from Echoes of the Past. The club collected toys for three weeks and the wagon, pulled by Dan Ransbottom, hauled in toys to be unloaded.
More than 1,200 children will be served this Christmas by the generosity shown by those who donated a new, unwrapped toy.
The club thanks RJ Keirn Trucking, Splendor Boats, Rural King, Beacon Credit Union, Kosciusko County Highway Garage, Warsaw Bus Garage, G & G Hauling, TSC, S & T Supply, Clunette Elevator, Etna Green Café, Etna Green Elevator and Winna Powder Coating for being a drop location for toys.
Saturday, Dec. 13 will be the club’s annual Cookies with Santa event at the Old School house on County Farm Road in Claypool. The event will run from 1 to 4 p.m. with activities for the kids, alpacas and cookies and cocoa. Address of the schoolhouse is 6840 S. County Farm Road, Claypool.
