Drug Charges Filed Against Warsaw ManA Warsaw man is facing meth charges in two separate cases after police caught him allegedly trying to sell the drug to purchase a vehicle.

Dennis Dean Meade, 53, of 866 Pine Mills Road, Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 2:17 a.m. Jan. 10 with a bond set at $5,250.

Meade is facing charges of dealing in methamphetamine, a Level 2 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a Level 3 felony; and neglect of a dependent, a Level 6 felony, stemming from an Oct. 8 narcotics investigation at Atwood Auto Sales.

In that case, police were at the car lot and asked Meade if he had anything illegal or any weapons on his person. According to the probable cause affidavit filed Oct. 16 in Kosciusko Circuit Court, Meade said he had “dope” in his pocket.

Police retrieved 38 grams of meth from Meade’s pocket, according to court papers, to which Meade said he was going to deal the methamphetamine to get enough funds to complete an automobile transaction.

All the while, a minor child Meade had custody of was present, according to the affidavit. Meade allegedly told police he shouldn’t have brought the child with him for the drug deal.

Most recently, Meade was arrested to answer to charges after he was pulled over at 12:30 a.m. Jan. 10 for failing to use his turn signal at the intersection of Detroit and Main streets in Warsaw.

When Meade was pulled over, police identified him as the driver and Bobby F. Dean Jr., 43, of 272 Stanley Trailer Court, Silver Lake, as the passenger.

A K9 free-air sniff indicated drugs were in the vehicle, and a subsequent search revealed a glass smoking device that tested positive for methamphetamine, a cell phone that had methamphetamine residue on the screen, a digital scale, empty bags commonly used to package illegal drugs, nine syringes, two torches and $1,540 in cash, according to court papers.

When police spoke with Dean, he admitted the smoking pipe was his. Meade also allegedly admitted the phone and the money belonged to him but said he didn’t know anything about the needles.

When police searched both men’s persons, they located a baggie with 1.7 grams of meth on Dean, according to the affidavit, and empty baggies on Meade that tested positive for methamphetamine.

Meade is facing charges after this traffic stop for possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony; and possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony.

Dean is facing charges for possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

According to court records, Dean was convicted of possession of paraphernalia in 2013.
