Drug Charges Filed After OverdoseA Warsaw man is facing drug charges after allegedly overdosing on methamphetamine when he thought he was injecting heroin.

Nathan R. Lecount, 33, of 7331 W. Lutes Drive, Warsaw, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 8:20 p.m. Friday for possession of methamphetamine. His bond was set at $10,000 surety and $250 cash.

Court documents filed April 4 list the charges against him as possession of methamphetamine with enhancing circumstances, a level 5 felony; possession of a syringe, a level 6 felony; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

On March 29, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputy Matthew Holderman responded to an overdose at Lecount’s address. Holderman was met by a woman who said Lecount was on the bedroom floor and having trouble breathing. Holderman saw Lecount lying on the floor, gasping for air every 20 seconds and was unconscious. The woman said Lecount had been playing with a child under 18 and was in his room by himself for about 10 minutes. The child was in the living room at the time of the overdose, according to court documents.

Emergency medical personnel arrived and provided medical assistance and took Lecount to Kosciusko Community Hospital.

In the area was Lecount was lying, Holderman saw a plastic bag containing methamphetamine. He also saw a box with a plastic see-through lid containing seven hypodermic syringes that appeared to have been used, with blood in several of them. There also were two metal spoons and a glass smoking device that field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Lecount admitted to Holderman that he used a needle to inject what he thought was heroin and received a rush of energy so it might have been methamphetamine, court documents state.
