Dr. Steven D. Womack, a devoted father, loving son and gentle soul, entered his eternal rest on Jan. 18, 2026, in Mesa, Ariz., at the age of 73 after a long-fought battle from Parkinson’s. Though his earthly journey ended, his spirit lives on ... whole, at peace and held in the everlasting embrace of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Born June 16, 1952, in Warsaw, Steven grew into a man whose quiet strength and steady kindness reflected a deep inner faith. His life was a testament to simple goodness, helping without being asked, listening without judgement, while loving without condition.
Steven was a dedicated scholar. A graduate of WCHS class of 1970, Steven next attended and graduated from DePauw University in Muncie. His commitment to learning and teaching shaped his life while inspiring thouse around him. Being a professor was one of his greatest joy and accomplishment.
Steven is survived by his children: Steven D. Womack II, Stefanie (Dean) Johnson, Shawn (Kenzie) Womack, whom carry forward the light he placed in their lives. In lieu of cremation, family will gather privately to honor and celebrate his life and legacy while lifting up his spirit in prayer. In this sacred time of remembrance, all the family takes comfort in knowing he has been welcomed home into the presence of Jesus Christ, where there is no pain, no worry, no burden ... only peace, joy and eternal rest.

Though he is no longer physically with us, his spirit remains close, living in the memories he shaped, the love he gave and the many lives he touched. His journey continues now in the fullness of God’s eternal light.
