I am responding to the letter about Downtown Days written by Jeff Harding.
Mr. Harding, I can tell you why Downtown Days wasn't like it has been in the past. It wasn't the same because the main person who was in charge of those great Downtown Days that were family oriented and friendly for the children is no longer with the organization that put on the event.
Carmen Lock was the executive director of Warsaw Community Development Corporation. When Carmen worked at WCDC, she made sure that all the events were family and children oriented. Since Carmen was released from her duties in December, it is hard to believe that the planning of Downtown Days took 12 months. By how Mr. Harding was describing the event, it sounded more like the planning only took 12 weeks.
Since WCDC is under a new director, I personally would have to say to Mr. Harding that future downtown events will not be how they used to be. The event of the latest Downtown Days is probably going to be the best that residents in the area are going to see, and that is really sad especially since there wasn't anything really for the kids except for the big wheel race.
Mr. Harding, this is why the Downtown Days event was not what it used to be. It is kind of hard to take the heart and soul out of downtown Warsaw and expect things to be the same.
