Douglas D. “Doug” Bowser Sr

NORTH WEBSTER – Douglas D. “Doug” Bowser Sr., 80, North Webster, passed away at 7:25 a.m. Jan. 9, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse.
He was born April 19, 1936, in Pierceton, to George Deverl and Evelyn L. Lewellan Bowser.
On Sept. 25, 1954, in Decatur, he married Frances A. “Fran” Likens, who survives in North Webster.
He lived most of his life in the North Webster area and graduated in 1954 from North Webster High School. He retired in 1999 from Metcalf, Payne & Bell as a plumbing and heating service man after 37-1/2 years, was a former real estate broker in Syracuse and North Webster, managed properties in the North Webster area and was the owner/operator of Bowser U-Lock Storage Units.
He was an active member of the North Webster Church of God, where he served on the board of trustees, was a Sunday school teacher and attended the men’s prayer breakfast faithfully for many years. He was a member of the Lakeland Kiwanis in North Webster, where he formerly served as president and SPEC (Senior Primelife Enrichment Center) Board of Directors. He formerly served on the North Webster Fire Department, coached little league baseball in North Webster, and was in a bowling league in Syracuse.
Also surviving are two daughters, Bobi (spouse David) Doll, Milford, and Barb (spouse Ken) Brauer, St. Petersburg, Fla.; three sons: Douglas Bowser Jr., Syracuse; Mark Bowser, North Webster; Bart (spouse Liz) Bowser, Midland, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Anne (spouse Gerald) Oswalt, Warsaw; and two brothers, Terry (spouse Patricia) Bowser, Warsaw, and Roger (spouse Mary) Bowser, Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons, Andrew Bowser and Charles Preston Towriss. 
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 & CR 500N, North Webster.  Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of God, 301 N. Main St., North Webster, with Pastor Jeff Boyer officiating.
Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. St. Rd 15, Warsaw. Private family burial will be in Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery at a later date.
