Dorothy Virginia Whittington Yoder

MIDLAND, Mich. - Dorothy Virginia Whittington Yoder died Feb. 2, 2010, in the residence of her son, Jerry and Carolyn Yoder, Warsaw, after a battle with cancer.

She was born June 6, 1920, to Henry Harvey and Mary Edith Pittman Whittington. On Aug. 2, 1940, in Mio, Mich., she married Vernon E. Yoder, who died Feb. 1, 1992.

She was a lifetime resident of Midland County; a member of Floyd Church of God for 58 years; and loved being a wife, mother, farmer and much loved friend of many.

Surviving are two sons, Gerald W. (and spouse Carolyn) Yoder, Warsaw, and John G. (Sharon) Yoder, Hollister, Calif.; six grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; much-loved extended family; a brother, John Whittington, Midland; and a sister-in-law, Aleta Yoder, Greenwood. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald V. Yoder; five sisters; a brother; and a grandson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Floyd Church of God, Midland, with Pastors Jeff Eckman, Bill Caroffino and her son Pastor Jerry Yoder officiating. Burial will be in Lee Township Cemetery.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St., Midland, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.
