Dorothy Sue Hackworth Elrod, 68, Winona Lake, passed away at 7:12 a.m. Nov. 27, 2014, at her residence. She was born July 9, 1946, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Harry and Alice Helton Hackworth. On May 3, 1965, she married James Leo Elrod, who passed away March 19, 2011. For the past 49 years, she had been a resident of Kosciusko County, where she and her late husband owned and operated Elrod Daycares for 30 years in Winona Lake and Warsaw. She was of Baptist faith and loved her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Michele Elrod, Winona Lake, and Alisha (and spouse Charles) Wagner, Warsaw; a son, Derek (and spouse Kelli) Elrod, Winona Lake; three grandchildren: Brittni Elrod, Kayla and Justin Oberlin; a sister, Delphia (and spouse Donald) Hicks, Prestonsburg; and two brothers, Harry (and spouse Cindy) Hackworth, Holyoke, Mass., and Charles (and spouse Elmina) Hackworth, Prestonsburg. She also was preceded in death by her parents; her son, James Christopher Elrod; and three brothers: Rebel, Robie and Lloyd Hackworth. Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with Chaplain Bob Jarboe officiating, and at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Highway 80, Junction 122, Martin, Ky. Burial is Wednesday in the Jack Arnett Cemetery, Prestonsburg.
