Dorothy L. SavageAKRON – Dorothy L. Savage, 91, of Warsaw, and formerly of Macy and Akron, passed at 2:15 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2022, at Miller’s Merry Manor of Warsaw.

Dorothy was born on Dec. 20, 1930, in Macy, to the late Ross and Fawn Hickman Sowers. She was married on May 21, 1949, to John Ross Savage; he preceded her in death on May 8, 1995.

She was a 1949 graduate of Macy High School. She was a homemaker and owned and operated the Akron Café and the Koffee Kup Kafe of Macy. She was always an outdoor person and loved flowers and doing yard work. She also enjoyed camping, gardening and crocheting. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother.

She is survived by her son, Fred and wife Rita Savage, of Warsaw; grandsons: Jesse and Joel Savage; and seven great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John; infant son, Larry Dean Savage; son, John Robert Savage; grandson, John Ryan Savage; sister, S. Evelyn Sowers; and brother, John Sowers.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 24 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with Julie Burns officiating.

A private interment will take place in the Plainview Cemetery, Macy.

Memorial visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 24 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
