NAPPANEE - Dorothy Helen Stahly, 91, of 419 Hickory Lane, Nappanee, died at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 12, 2009, in her residence, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born Feb. 25, 1917, in New Paris, to Frank and Bertha Hoshaw Method. On June 29, 1935, she married John Stahly, who survives.

A lifetime area resident, she wintered in Sarasota, Fla. She was the 1935 New Paris High School valedictorian. She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of First Brethren Church, Nappanee.

Also surviving are two daughters, Barbara (and spouse Jim) Moore, Syracuse, and Jill (and spouse Bill) Rex, Sarasota; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eloise (and spouse Vern) Meeks and Bertha Parker, all of Nappanee; and a brother, Frank Method, Nappanee. She was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Brethren Church, Nappanee, with the Rev. Tom Schiefer officiating. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee.
