SYRACUSE - Dorothy Burgett, 78, of Milford, died at 11:50 p.m. March 12, 2007, in Goshen General Hospital.
She was born Dec. 10, 1928, in Ceredo, W.Va., to James and Margie Dalton McCoy. On Aug. 27, 1945, in Catlettsburg, Ky., she married William G. Burgett, who died Jan. 13, 1994.
She attended Ceredo-Kenova High School in West Virginia, and moved to the Milford/Syracuse area in 1945. She provided home child care in Milford for several years. After graduating from Ravencroft Beauty College, Fort Wayne, she owned and operated the Vicki Lee Beauty Shop until 1987. She was a member Order of the Eastern Star, Syracuse American Legion Auxiliary and Syracuse Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Steven (Paula) Stokes, Milford; a son, William C. Burgett, Goshen; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nancy Farley, Chesapeake, Ohio, and Patti Davis, Richmond, Ky. She was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Services will be at 6:45 p.m. Thursday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Pastor William C. Burgett officiating. Services also will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Reger Funeral Home, Huntington, W.Va. Burial will be in Docks Creek Cemetery, Huntington.
