Don't Speak For God

In response to "God Chose": "Things are going to get worse in the future" is a very broad statement, and what things are going to get worse? I don't need "God's word" to tell me that things are going to get worse, that's a pretty obvious statement.

I'm sure we have plenty of good years left no matter which candidate won, especially considering the fact that it wouldn't take much with the current disastrous president we have. Neither man could possibly solve all of our current problems. So don't be so upset about McCain's loss. It seems very shallow and ignorant to say or imply that the people who voted for Obama are worshipping false gods.

I'm sure that there are many Christians that did vote for president-elect Obama. Just because someone does not see things the way you do does not mean they worship a false god. They may worship the same one you claim to follow.

It gets old, people speaking for "God." If you truly were the "God"-loving and -fearing person you say you are, you would not condemn or judge someone who opposes your viewpoints. There has always been and always will be too much "immorality," which is usually defined differently person to person or religion to religion.

Also, how is it fair to rattle off abortions, divorces, same-sex marriage, and children carrying guns into school in one breath, and lump them all together in a single "immoral" category? All of these "offenses" come from different situations, each very different from the other.

How is it fair to tell someone that they can't marry the person that they love no matter what their sexual preference? It sounds a bit like discrimination to me. I myself am not gay, but I don't see how it's fair for someone to use their Bible (or other religious book of choice) to discriminate.

What about health issues that arise during a pregnancy, where the mother is faced with difficult decisions? Is she automatically deemed a horrible person if she chooses the option that you don't like? And what about abusive spouses? Are the victims supposed to continue to take the abuse because it is "immoral" to divorce?

Religion is flawed (just look at how many different forms there are) and should not be used as a guideline to make laws. Just because something isn't right for you doesn't mean it's wrong. Religion is sometimes as deep as a puddle.
