Donna Kathryn Kimpel NordstromDonna Kathryn Kimpel Nordstrom, born on Oct. 22, 1926, in Edgerton, Ohio, passed away on March 2, 2022, in Portland, Ore.

Parents are Clarence George Kimpel  and Bertha  Emma Haase Kimpel. She grew up in the midwest — after graduating from high school in Defiance, Ohio. She trained as a registered nurse at the Fort Wayne School of Nursing in Indiana. She spent most of 50 years in the profession in Massachusetts, where she met her husband of almost 57 years. She and Edgar Valentine Nordstrom were married on Sept. 18, 1960; he passed away on June 1, 2017. Together they raised three wonderful children who all survive: Susan Parker Guest  (Vincent), of Readsboro, Vt.; Steven Craig Nordstrom, of Somerville, Mass.; and Matthew David Nordstrom (Elizabeth), of Portland, Ore.

Her passions were her family, reading and sewing. She loved traveling with her husband Ed, who was the eternal optimist. Every day with him was an adventure! She was active in the Montavilla United Methodist Church and had a longtime commitment to Lions Club International. She was devoted to her grandchildren and was called “Cookie Grandma” and “Nana.” The four grandchildren are David Nordstrom, of Webster, Mass.; Michelle Sullivan, of Lincoln, R.I.; and Noah and Luke Nordstrom, of Portland, Ore. Also there are four great-grandchildren: Makayla and Brooklyn Nordstrom, of Webster, Mass.; and Sean Jr. and Connor Sullivan, of Lincoln, R.I.

Ashes are to be interred at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore. A memorial will be held at Montavilla United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on March 13.
