NAPPANEE - Donald Johnston, 88, of 306 W. Randolph St., Nappanee, died at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 5, 2010, in his residence, after a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 17, 1922, in St. Joseph County, to Alva F. and Lillie M. Wyman Johnston. On May 25, 1946, in Columbia City, he married Margaret E. "Peg" Goddard, who died Aug. 27, 2002.
A lifetime area resident, he was a 1940 Nappanee High School graduate and a World War II Army Air Corp veteran. In 1984, he retired from Bendix after 33 years of service. He was a member of Nappanee American Legion.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda (and spouse Dave) Detwiler and Jan (and spouse Bill) Hollar, all of Nappanee, and Shirley (and spouse Dave) Hoffer, Goshen; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stony Point Cemetery with Lindsey and Nick London officiating and with military graveside rites.
