Domestic Battery Reported At Hotel

After another hotel guest heard a woman screaming for help, police arrested a Warsaw man Monday on domestic battery charges at the Deluxe Inn.

Richard Allen Parr, 40, of 2575 E. Center St., #221, Warsaw, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 9:51 p.m. Monday for domestic battery in the presence of a child under 16. His preliminary bond was set at $6,000.

Court documents filed Thursday list the counts against Parr as domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor.

Warsaw Police Department officer Miles Reichard responded to a domestic dispute Monday at the Deluxe Inn, 2575 E. Center St., Room 221, Warsaw. Parr told Reichard he and his girlfriend were arguing over money. Parr said there was yelling and screaming, but no physical contact during the argument.

The girlfriend said she and Parr were arguing when he pushed her onto the bed and used his fists to hit her on the head. She said she tried to defend herself by using her hands and feet to push Parr away. Reichard saw and photographed red marks and scratches on Parr’s neck.

The woman also reported a child was present in the room while Parr pushed and hit her. The child told Parr to stop and get off of the woman.

The person who reported the disturbance was staying in the room directly below 221. She told Reichard she could hear a woman asking for someone to call the cops because “he’s beating me up,” court documents state. The woman also could hear a child screaming, “Please stop.”

No injuries were visible to the girlfriend’s head, but she reported having a tender lump on her head from Parr hitting her, according to court documents.

Parr’s initial hearing was set for 1 p.m. March 7 in Kosciusko County Superior Court III.
