Dog Poo

Editor, Times-Union:

Regarding the so eloquently entitled letter "Dog Poo;" this letter is really to Susan Brown.

I know the man "in the light green v-neck sweater, who drives the black jeep, who went into the condos on the corner of Center and Buffalo Streets, who has the Irish setter" (actually it's a Golden Retriever). I also know his wife and I know the dog.

Let me ask, Susan, if you were so offended by this man's actions, why did you stand and watch? Why didn't you confront him about it? Why did you publically judge someone you don't know, when you really didn't know what was going on?

First of all, these people do walk their dog regularly on the courthouse lawn and they always clean up the dog's "poo." On that particular evening, the man in the green sweater forgot his plastic bag. If you need to know specifics, the dog doesn't usually "poo" at that time in the evening - he's pretty regular, but had an "off" day. If you had waited, or had the guts to ask the man, you would have found out that he did go get a bag and did return to pick up the poo.

Now, on to your rant about disrespect of our soldiers. The wife of the man in the green sweater has a brother who is a soldier in the U.S. Army. He is a Blackhawk helicopter medevac pilot. He has served in Iraq and Afghanistan and is due to go back in 2009. If you know someone who has a soldier in their family, you know the respect they have for our troops. I can't even begin to tell you how you have made her feel by saying her husband was disrespecting our soldiers.

Please, please don't judge people publically when you don't have nearly all of the facts and don't know the people. You have done more damage than a small pile of poo ever could.
