Editor, Times-Union: Shame on you Mr. Opperud! It is possible for an “Independent” candidate to be a nice alternative to a mediocre or poor Democrat or Republican candidate.
However, you brought the media in, TV stations, etc. from all over to bring up half-baked and ridiculous charges that reflect on both political parties, poll workers and the local election board.
You end it all by slandering and defaming, under oath, my father George, a good, decent and respected businessman. He is retiring after 11 years of city council service and involvement on various non-profit boards. He has given up much of his time to serve the needs of our community and of less-fortunate citizens.
Your presentation was so lacking in merit that every news outlet, except for our local newspaper, didn’t even mention it! What you did to my father was despicable and certainly not an exemplary example of a competent, honest leader. Surely not the kind of leader that our great city of Warsaw deserves!
