Dewey Calhoun, 85, of 7925 E. CR 1050S, South Whitley, died at 11:55 a.m. Aug. 28, 2011, in his residence.
He was born March 16, 1926, in Prestonsburg, Ky., to Joe and Rosa Worrix Calhoun. On June 2, 1951, he married Deliah Rose, who survives.
He was a farmer and ran his own saw mill. He served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Korean War. He was a resident of Kosciusko County since 1953, and was a member of Free United Baptist Church, Pierceton.
Also surviving are six sons: Don Calhoun, Pierceton; Bob (and spouse Janet) Calhoun, Fort Wayne; Wayne (and spouse Kim) Calhoun, South Bend; Dean (and spouse Sandy) Calhoun, Coldwater, Mich.; Joe (and spouse Teresa) Calhoun, Sidney; and Denver Calhoun, Wolcottville; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mae Sizemore, Ada, Ohio, and Fay Gray and Mary Alice Miller, both of Prestonsburg. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Free United Baptist Church, Pierceton, with Pastor Essie Allen officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Pierceton, with military rites.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw.
