Posted
ROCHESTER – Delores Ionia Grossman, 81, of Argos, was surrounded by her loving family when she went home to be with her Lord at 11:50 p.m. Sept. 11th, 2012, in Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.

She was born July 31, 1931, in Tippecanoe, the precious daughter of   Orran “Buddy” and Hazel Vanlue Miller. On July 23, 1950, she and Dale E. Grossman solemnized their wedding vows in Tippecanoe. He died March 2, 2005.

As a youngster, she shared her childhood with a sister, Audrey, and two brothers “Buddy” and Gordon. With great pride in 1949, she graduated from Tippecanoe High School.

The union of Delores and Dale spanned nearly 55 years and produced five daughters and two sons. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of 12 grandchildren.

A devoted member of the Tippecanoe Community Church for more than a half century, she served the youth as nursery supervisor, AWANA leader and taught vacation Bible school classes. She and Dale, for many years, shared the word of our Lord, manning the Marshall County 4-H Fair church booth. She was an avid Chicago Cub fan and was known for her culinary skills. At home from her kitchen command post, she embraced the holidays and special family celebrations creating dinners the family raved about. Her specialty was her Italian spaghetti. Other memorable delicacies are her hot beef pizza and just-from-the-oven, warm chocolate cookies with peanut butter chips. To relax she enjoyed listening to piano music and traditional hymns.

She will be lovingly remembered by her four daughters: Kandi S. (and spouse Kevin) Dunham, Argos;  Pamela K. (and spouse Paul) Buesking, Kokomo; Robin L (and spouse David) Reichard, Warsaw; and Jodi A. Grossman (and companion Joe Mitchell), Indianapolis; two sons, Bruce A. (and spouse Joanne) Grossman, Jamestown, and Roger D. (and spouse Holly) Grossman, Winona Lake; 12 grandchildren: Mark (and spouse Tina) Tew; Randy (and spouse Carling) Dunham; Andrew (and spouse Melissa) Buesking; Rebekah Reichard; Rachel Dunham; Allison (and spouse Martin) Kyle; Nicholas Buesking; Kaitlin Reichard; Reghan Dunham; Alexis Grossman; Jordan Grossman; and Hannah Grossman; a son-in-law,  Wayne Tew, Dothan, Ala.; and nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cheryl Tew; a sister, Audrey; and two brothers, Welcome “Buddy” Miller and Gordon Miller.

A celebration of life will be at noon Saturday at Tippecanoe Community Church, 2940 18B Road, Tippecanoe, with the Revs. Douglas Fritzel and Rod Ruberg officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos.

Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester.
