NORTH WEBSTER – Debra L. "Deb" Bissell, 68, of North Webster, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne.
She was born on Jan. 10, 1953, in Hartford City, to Wilbur E. and Shirley M. Hurlock Mitchener.
She graduated in 1971 from Wawasee High School in Syracuse. She spent her summers in Kosciusko County and lived in Marion from 1982 to 2001 but lived most of her life in the northern Indiana area. On Sept. 15, 1988, in Louisville, Ky., she married Ernest Ross “Pete” Bissell, who preceded her on May 30, 2010. She formerly worked for CVS Pharmacy and for Dr. Rose in Warsaw.
She was a member of the North Webster United Methodist Church in North Webster, Vineyard Community Church in Syracuse and the Vineyard Community Church in Logansport.
She is survived by two daughters: Tonya (Mark Philabaum) Bowser, of Syracuse; and Jaime Ervin, of North Webster; six grandchildren: Dylan Bowser, Ryea Fuller, Bodhi Bowser, Madilynn McDonald, Emily McDonald and Jonathan McDonald; three great-grandchildren: Aowyn Fuller, Diem Fuller and Rylan Bowser; and two brothers: Gene Mitchener, of Marion; and Dale (Debbie) Mitchener, of Heeney, Colo.
She was preceded by her parents, husband and foster parents, John and Ruth Stone.
Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 21 at the Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 and CR 500N, North Webster. Private funeral services will be at the funeral home, with Pastor Bruce Vernon of the Vineyard Community Church in Logansport officiating. Burial will follow in Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery.
