DAR To Celebrate Constitution Week

Posted

Members of the Agnes Pruyn Chapman Chapter, Warsaw, of Daughters of the American Revolution will celebrate Constitution Week, Sept. 17-23 with a display at the North Webster Public Library.
In 1955, the Daughters petitioned Congress to set aside Sept. 17-23 as an observance of Constitution Week. The resolution was adopted by U.S. Congress and signed into law in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
The commitment of the DAR is to encourage study and educate the public about the Constitution. DAR’s overall mission is historic preservation, education and patriotism. DAR is one of the largest patriotic women’s service organizations in the world and has close to 190,000 members in approximately 3,000 chapters across the country and several foreign countries. For additional information about DAR, visit www.dar.org.
Any women 18 years or older who can prove direct lineage to a Revolutionary War patriot is eligible for membership. View the NSDAR website or contact Kathy Gawthrop at 574-527-2674 or Jennifer Simpson at 574-527-1677.
