Daniel W. Lackey, 65, of Claypool, went to our Lord and Savior on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital Fort Wayne.
He was born on Feb. 6, 1960, to Robert W. and Norma Lou Freeman Lackey in Warsaw.
Dan was united in marriage to Deborah Boggs on Sept. 7, 1985, in Statesville, N.C. They would have been married for 40 years on Sept. 7, 2025.
Dan was born in Indiana then moved to North Carolina when he was 21, where he met his lovely wife to be, Debbie Boggs. Starting with their family in North Carolina, they moved to Claypool in 1988. Dan was working for Zimmer in Statesville, North Carolina, as a supervisor then as a polisher and machinist for Zimmer in Warsaw. He is currently working for Nuell Inc., Leesburg, as a supervisor, he has been with them for at least 15 years. He has always considered them as “his work family.”
Dan enjoys reading the Bible and sharing his faith and knowledge with family and friends. He fixed anything you could send his way. He loved to tinker. He loved to watch science fiction movies and gunsmithing, working on computers (he was known as the “computer nerd”), he was a jack of all trades. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.
Dan was a wonderful father, loving and adoring husband. He loved his family and devoted himself to everyone’s happiness. His sense of humor and laughter would brighten any room. He touched so many lives with his generosity.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Debbie, of Claypool; and his children: Marcus R. (Katrina) Lackey, Fort Wayne; Jeramie W. Lackey, Leesburg; Jennifer R. Lackey-Taylor, Warsaw; his brothers and sisters: Charlene Lackey, Mentone; Mike Lackey, Warsaw; Dewey (Dee) Lackey, Florida; Kathy Cutler, Warsaw; and Jane Lackey, Akron. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Montey Lackey; and sister, Peggy Marsollett.
A visitation will be held at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, on Thursday, Sept. 4 from noon to 2 p.m. A funeral service will follow immediately the visitation at 2 p.m. Pastor Larry Burkhart will be officiating.
Burial will be in the Mentone Cemetery, Mentone.
