Dallas Owens, 64, Warsaw, passed away at 1:20 a.m. June 29, 2015, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw. He was born Sept. 2, 1950, in Warsaw, to Butler and Annie Whitaker Owens. On May 27, 1967, in Warsaw, he married Patricia Newingham, who preceded him in death March 15, 2012. He was a lifetime resident of Warsaw, and served our country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict as a private first class gun truck driver in the 57th Transportation from 1970 to 1971. He worked for Archer Foundry and Warsaw Foundry as an iron pourer, retiring in 1986. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Kosciusko County, National Rifle Association and the Civilian Marksmanship Program. Surviving are, three daughters: Missy (and spouse Charlie) Holbrook and Joni Owens, all of Warsaw; and Julie (and spouse John) Jeffries, Winona Lake; two sons, Jody (and spouse Terry) Owens, Winona Lake, and Dalis “Dewayne” (and spouse Holly) Owens, Warsaw; 10 grandchildren: Dillon (and spouse Jackie) Holbrook, Etna Green; Chase Holbrook, Trevor and Alyssa Owens, all of Warsaw; Gage, Mason and Mollie Owens and Sarah and Jaxson Jeffries, all of Winona Lake; Nicole (and spouse Kevin) Gayheart, Winamac; five brothers and sisters: Maggie (and spouse Elmer) England, Valis (and spouse Janice) Owens, all of Warsaw; Dale Owens, Fruitland Park, Fla.; Gale (and spouse Dana) Owens, Silver Lake; and Evie Spangle, Columbia City; and two brothers-in-law, James Smith and Mitchell Bradford. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Murline Smith and Garna Bradford. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Terry Bradford officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors by American Legion Post 49 and VFW Post 1196, Warsaw. Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
