A Cromwell woman was arrested on multiple charges after law enforcement officers allegedly found more than 200 grams of drugs, paraphernalia and $3,500 in her vehicle and residence.
Tanisha Rena Atchison, 48, of 9661 E. Seneca Lane, Cromwell, is charged with dealing in methamphetamine, a level 2 felony; possession of methamphetamine, a level 3 felony; possession of a syringe, a level 6 felony; maintaining a common nuisance, a level 6 felony; possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor; possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor, possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor; and possession of marijuana with a prior conviction, a class A misdemeanor.
She was booked in to the Kosciusko County Jail at 10:41 a.m. Monday on a $75,500 preliminary bond.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on Monday an Indiana State Police trooper learned Atchison had received a large amount of methamphetamine and was distributing it across Kosciusko County.
The trooper saw a white Suzuki on Hatchery Road in the area of CR 100N with Atchison as the driver. The trooper followed the vehicle and saw Atchison fail to use a proper turn signal on CR 100N approaching Ind. 13.
The trooper conducted a traffic stop. The trooper removed Atchison from the vehicle and advised her of her Miranda rights. Atchison admitted there was a marijuana joint in her cigarette pack in the vehicle. She also admitted she had 3.5 grams of methamphetamine with her and 4 or 5 ounces of methamphetamine at her residence.
When the trooper searched the vehicle, he found a cell phone, a cigarette containing a green plant material that field tested presumptive positive for marijuana and a plastic bag that contained a white crystalized substance that field tested presumptive positive of methamphetamine.
A Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) 43 officer interviewed Atchison and she admitted she had 4 to 6 grams of methamphetamine and about $3,000 at her residence. She said she received 2-1/2 pounds and sold the rest of it.
The officer requested and read her the consent form to search her residence and Atchison gave officers consent.
During the search, items officers found included a homemade smoking bong, four burnt marijuana joints, a plastic bag containing burnt plant-like material, smoking pipe containing a plant-like material, four digital scales, 10 syringes, plastic bag that contained a white crystalized substance that field tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine and had a total weight of 112.1 grams, $3,500, a plastic bag containing a white crystalized substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine and had a total weight of 52 grams, two plastic bags that contained a white crystalized substance that field tested presumptive for methamphetamine and had a total weight of 48.5 grams.
The combined weight of drugs found in Atchison’s vehicle and residence was 219.8 grams of methamphetamine, 10.8 grams of spice and 2.6 grams of marijuana.
Atchison admitted she uses the syringes to ingest methamphetamine and she packages the methamphetamine in food boxes and uses a vacuum sealer to reseal the bags.
Atchison was previously convicted of possession of methamphetamine on June 13, 2022, in Kosciusko County.
