Cromwell Man Jailed After Weapons IncidentA Cromwell man was arrested after allegedly pointing a firearm at two women and trying to attack them with a knife.

Joshua Michael Allen, 35, of 9636 E. Pixie Parkway, #28, Cromwell, is charged with two counts of attempted battery while armed with a deadly weapon, Level 5 felonies; pointing a firearm, a Level 6 firearm; and criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor.

He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 9:51 p.m. Monday with a $10,250 bond.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Monday, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a residence.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke to a woman who said she and Allen had an altercation at the residence.

The first woman explained she left the residence to go to the store and, upon her return, she was locked out of the residence. The first woman called another woman who opened the door, while Allen was pointing a rifle at both women. The first woman said Allen pulled out a knife, attempting to cut his own throat.

The first woman said both women attempted to take the knife away from Allen. Allen then came after the two women with the knife. The first woman said she left the residence for a short time and then returned to grab her belongings when Allen pushed her down on top of her belongings. The first woman showed police a hamper and a bag of clothing Allen had ripped and cut without the woman’s permission while she was away.

Deputies spoke to the second woman who said Allen had pointed a rifle at both the women. The second woman also said Allen pulled a knife and attacked both women. Deputies observed red marks on the second woman’s arm, according to court documents.

The second woman also said that after the first woman left for a short time, Allen attempted to shock himself and the second woman by pulling wires out of the breaker box. The second woman than said Allen tried to hang himself with a sleeping bag cord she had to cut, according to court documents.

Allen was later located and read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with law enforcement. He denied pointing a firearm at the two women, but said he pointed the firearm at himself. Allen allegedly admitted to attempting to harm himself, but stated he didn’t know what happened during the physical altercations.

Allen was previously convicted of resisting a law enforcement officer with a vehicle and battery against a public safety official in Wabash County on Oct. 2, 2019. He also previously was convicted of invasion of privacy in Wabash County on March 4, 2018, according to the court documents.
