A Warsaw woman and a Syracuse man were arrested Monday on drug charges at 3699 N. CR 175E, lot 63, Warsaw.

Traci Dianne Craig, 29, Warsaw, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 9:59 a.m. Monday on a preliminary charge of failure to appear and preliminary bond of $283, according to her booking information.

Darren Jay Heinzman, 36, Syracuse, was arrested and booked at 12:07 p.m. on preliminary charges of dealing meth, dealing a narcotic 1 to 5 grams and possession of paraphernalia. His preliminary bond was set at $15,250, his booking information states.

According to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, at about 8:30 a.m. Monday KCSD detectives responded with Child Protective Services to lot 63 of Suburban Acres to check the welfare of a child. Police talked with Craig who was wanted on a failure to appear warrant.

Drug paraphernalia was found on her at the scene and charges for possession of paraphernalia on her are being forwarded to the county prosecutor’s office.

Police found Heinzman, who was apparently passed out in a vehicle at the residence, and was initially thought to be overdosing on narcotics, the release states.

Heinzman was charged with dealing heroin, dealing methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, and neglect of a dependent, the release said.

He was medically cleared due to his intoxication and then booked into the jail.

The investigation led officers to Pixie Parkway near Syracuse where they found a child who was unattended at approximately 12:45 p.m. The child was being cared for by Heinzman, but was left unattended for an extended period of time, the report said.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges are possible on other persons involved.
