Regarding County Commissioner Ron Truex's response to the Speak Out column in The Paper: Yes, Mr. Truex, it has been a secret about the Barbee sewer system.
I was sitting at a local restaurant when I overheard a local contractor telling another person about the new sewer and even where the dump station is going to be. I thought the homeowners were going to have a vote about the sewer system, not have it go through when people are not even aware that this is going on behind their backs. Especially now with these hard economic times with people losing their pensions, or having them cut, loss of jobs and homes. And now they want to put in a sewer system when all of this time they should have been checking every homeowner's septic to see if it is up to par, if not, those homeowners should have had to put in a new septic which would have solved the problem.
I hope everyone that is concerned as we are will be at the Sept. 4 meeting to let them know how most people feel about this. I will faithfully watch the paper since they are not sure where the meeting will be held. (Again, another secret.)
