Posted
The first flu-related death of a child in Kosciusko County this flu season has been confirmed.

Quinten Price, 5, died Dec. 27, 2017, after falling ill, according to Kosciusko County Coroner Tony Ciriello.

The final autopsy report was received by the coroner’s office this morning. Autopsy and microbiology testing showed Price died of complications from the strain Influenza A.

This is the second flu-related death in Kosciusko County this flu season; the other was an elderly person.

Children and the elderly are the most susceptible to have serious complications from the flu virus.

Flu season typically runs from December until March; however, anyone can get the flu any time of the year.

Unlike a common cold, influenza is a rapid-onset illness.
