Counterfeit Bill Passed In N. WebsterA Syracuse woman is facing a counterfeiting charge after allegedly using a fake $100 bill to shop at a supermarket.
Erica Jill Weisser, 37, of 428 EMS D15 Lane, Syracuse, was booked into Kosciusko County Jail at 6:47 p.m. Monday for counterfeiting, a level 6 felony. Her bond was set at $10,000 surety and $250 cash.
According to court documents filed April 10, North Webster Police Department officer David May was requested at New Market on March 26 in reference to a counterfeit bill. He spoke with two New Market employees.
The first employee told May that Weisser presented a $100 bill to her and the second employee at the register. Weisser then shopped while the two employees checked the bill. Weisser gathered merchandise and returned to the register. Weisser purchased $11.74 worth of merchandise, took the change and left the store.
May took possession of the $100 bill and recognized it to be counterfeit. He also watched surveillance footage of the incident and positively identified the person presenting the counterfeit bill as Weisser.
