Cornerstone Caregiving, 3552 Commerce Drive, Warsaw, celebrated the opening of its Warsaw location with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce Wednesday.
Charlotte Wise, operating director, said the Warsaw office officially opened in February. There are 11 other locations in Indiana and 400 locations across the nation.
Cornerstone does in-home care for seniors and covers Kosciusko, Whitley, Marshall and Fulton counties. Pricing starts at $35 an hour.
Cornerstone’s headquarters is in Texas and they did research into the area and found the area was lacking in services as Cornerstone’s nearest locations were in Fort Wayne, South Bend, Gary, Lafayette, Marion and Indianapolis.
“We want to grow,” Wise said, adding Cornerstone already does over 200 care hours a week and they’ve been open for about four months.
Cornerstone doesn’t have a minimum amount of time for care and can be available 24/7, “so we can cover all shifts,” she said.
In-home care with Cornerstone is not medical care, but they can do anything like help with bathing, dressing, taking clients to appointments, cleaning, medication reminders, laundry, “anything around the home the clients wants us to do.”
Wise said she worked in senior living her whole career. She always heard people say living in senior living communities was not like living in a person’s home or residents wanted to go home. She said to now be able to help people stay in their homes was awesome.
If someone is interested in services with Cornerstone, Wise said people can call 574-766-7010. Wise will then go to the home and do an assessment and see what the client needs and maybe suggest a number of hours if the client is unsure how much is needed.
Wise said Cornerstone hopes to help people maintain dignity in their home and not have to go to a facility.
“If we have other options, or if we can provide care at certain points of the day where they’re more vulnerable, then they can remain at home longer,” she said.
